Fashion as Expression
Many people don’t realize that they are making a statement about themselves every day by what they chose to wear. They could be saying any number of things to the people they come in contact with. Perceptions vary as much as one’s style though. For example, a well-groomed and made-up woman toting a Gucci purse or wearing Gucci shoes may seem to one person as very successful and attractive. To another, though, they may see this woman and uptight or wasteful. Beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder.
Your style says a lot about what you think of yourself, too. If you do dress like the woman with the Gucci shoes and purse, perhaps you think highly of yourself. Maybe you are quite confident. Or maybe you are trying to hide behind it?
But if you dress in baggy, ragged clothes, maybe you don’t believe you deserve something nice like a Gucci purse, clothes, or sunglasses. This isn’t the truth. Some people pretend not to care how they look, but it is really just a façade.
Take a look at how you dress and ask yourself what you are saying to others about who you are. Not that you should become bothered by the opinions of others. But maybe you didn’t realize what image you were portraying. If you want to portray someone who is confident, are you dressing that way? Your style is your first impression to the world around you.
